Camp Stitches 2017

Wow, Wow, WOW!! My first Camp Stitches and I am ALL IN for more! The STITCHES folks really have it going on. I'm ever so grateful they have expanded their offerings in knitting to include sewing and fiber arts as well.

Thank you, Mavis, Rick, and Elaine for taking such good care of all of us. The venue, The Coeur d'Alene Resort is a gorgeous setting, has great service, and delicious food. The structure for the classes, intensive yet relaxed is perfect. We had a full schedule and really delved deep into cutting, stenciling, and hand stitching our own garments, and the timing was just right. We were not rushed: There was time to soak it all in: There was space to explore, digest, experiment, learn, and ask questions.

I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to meet and spend the days with every single one of the participants. They were all open, eager, intelligent, game, kind, present, and they all brought something special to the class. Thank you one and all.  I wish we all lived in the same area so we could spend more time together.

On the last day of camp, all the classes got together and told about their curriculum and showed what they worked on. The happy smiles and confidence exuded from all the students (and instructors) as I gazed around the room, told me that I wasn't the only one completely satisfied with the Camp Stitches experience.

Here are a few of my student's favorite things that I need to try: These Dovo embroidery scissors were smooth as silk to cut with: Size 9 instead of 10 needle: This travelling Ottlite for those occasions when we're not so lucky to have lovely huge windows of light: and this very handy nimble thimble.

One night a group of us had a blast thrifting. Coeur d'Alene has a great little op shop loop. Here are my finds: A pair of vinyl clogs for running out into the yard; and this little top that I didn't purchase to actually wear, but the fabric, color, and print were sparking ideas like crazy when I saw it so I had to bring it home.

I'm hoping to meet up with the lovely Camp Stitches Tribe again in 2018.
